The Shapoorji Pallonji Group has emerged as the lowest bidder for redevelopment and restructuring of Central Vista avenue in Delhi, reports Hindustan Times.

The redevelopment of Central Vista avenue, comprising Rajpath, leading from the Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate, includes building of underground passes, electrical and mechanical work, landscaping the green areas, large scale stone work, including their operation and maintenance for five years.

Infrastructure firm Shapoorji Pallonji and Company Limited quoted a financial bid of Rs 477 crore, around five percent lower than the project’s estimated cost of Rs 502 crore.

Tata Projects Limited quoted the second lowest bid of Rs 488 crore followed by ITD Cementation at Rs 490 crore and NCC Limited at Rs 601 crore.

The redevelopment of Avenue is part of the Rs 13,000-crore Central Vista project which envisages a new triangular Parliament building, a common central secretariat with 11 administrative buildings to house all the government ministries.

The project also involves construction of a new Prime Minister residence, Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and new Vice President’s enclave.

Earlier on Tuesday (5 January), in a big boost to the Central Vista redevelopment project, the Supreme Court cleared the project and allowed the government to go ahead with its construction.
