State-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) through its manufacturing facilities in Bhopal and Haridwar has begun the supply of oxygen to hospitals in their vicinity to help meet the surge in demand due to a fresh burst of COVID-19 cases, reports Economic Times.

BHEL's plant in Madhya Pradesh (MP)'s Bhopal is supplying more than 6,000 cubic meters of oxygen gas daily. The facility provided the hospitals in the Bhopal area with 975 cylinders of oxygen on bygone Friday (23 April) alone.

Presently BHEL is generating oxygen at the aforementioned two facilities by using their captive units which have been installed to meet their normal manufacturing requirements. BHEL is also in the process of beginning production and supply of oxygen from its other units.
