Taj Mahal Re-Opens To Visitors With Strict COVID-19 Protocol In Place; Only 5,000 People Per Day

Shut since 17 March, Taj Mahal in Uttar Pradesh (UP)'s Agra city has been opened up for tourists again starting Monday (21 September) with limits on the count of people allowed to enter the premises each day, reports Hindustan Times.

A Taiwanese tourist staying in India became the first visitor to enter the monument after so long as the Taj reopened its gates.


The visitors can either scan the code to purchase tickets on the spot or can book tickets online through Archaeological Survey of India (ASI)'s website or smartphone application.

Also, at a time, no more than five people will be allowed into the main mausoleum which houses the graves of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Also, an ambulance will remain ready at service at the gates of Taj.
