Tamil Nadu: Umbrella Of Deity Used To Shield CM Stalin's Wife From Rain

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Durga Stalin, who is the wife of Chief Minister MK Stalin, is seen being shielded from rain by temple staff using an umbrella reserved for the deity.

The incident occurred when Durga Stalin was leaving the Thyagarajaswamy Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, in Chennai's Tirovottiyur.

While Durga Stalin was being shielded with the deity's umbrella, the deity was covered with a normal black umbrella.

The Thyagarajaswamy temple was built by the Pallavas in the seventh century CE and later expanded by the Cholas.

Today, it is under the control of the state government's Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department.
