After reports on misuse of temple funds at Sri Rajarajeshwara Swamy temple in Telangana’s Vemulawada have surfaced, authorities have suspended the involved employee, Venkatesh, who siphoned off Rs 40 lakh that belongs to the temple.
The employee from the sales department of the temple under government control has misguided the authorities by submitting wrong statistics of laddu sales involving sale of two lakh laddus worth Rs 40 lakh.
Earlier a source told Telangana Today that though irregularities came to light, the laddu production department officials did not inform the higher officials as the employee involved in fraud had repaid the amount when he was questioned about the irregularities.
On Friday (30 April) authorities issued orders suspending the employee involved in fraud. Also show cause notices were also issued to two temple superintendents, Mahesh and Rajashekhar, for clearing tickets booking closing records without cross checking the statistics.
Sri Rajarajeshwara Swamy temple in Vemulawada of Telangana is an ancient and popular temple in the state. Historically the temple town was the capital of the Vemulawada Chalukyas who ruled from 750 to 973 CE. The main deity of this temple, Rajarajeswara Swamy is another name for Hindu god Shiva.
