Render of the Statue of Unity
In a major success for the Statue of Unity built in remembrance of India's first minister of home affairs Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the world’s biggest statue has attracted over 29 lakh tourists since it was inaugurated on 31 October last year, reports Livemint.
Attracting an unprecedented number of tourists to Gujarat's Kevadiya in Narmada district, the statue alone has generated an impressive revenue of Rs 82.51 crore since its launch.
As per the bill, the Government of Gujarat would raise a body christened 'Statue of Unity Area development and Tourism Governance Authority' which would, thereafter, implement, facilitate, and regulate development in the region, with the police having been authorised to assist it.
