The much-delayed trial against the mastermind of dastardly 2008 Mumbai terror attacks Hafiz Saeed began on Friday (20 december) in the anti-terrorism court (ATC) of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, reports The Hindu.
The development comes after the ATC based in Lahore had on 11 December indicted Jama’at-ud-Da’wah (JuD) chief Saeed and his top aides Hafiz Abdul Salam bin Muhammad, Muhammad Ashraf and Zafar Iqbal on terror-financing charges.
The joint statement had also stressed the need for Pakistan to take immediate and irreversible action to ensure that no territory of the country is used as a breeding ground for terrorism.
