Tripura Begins Recruitment Of Women Into State's Counter Insurgency Paramilitary Unit

In a positive development, the Tripura Government led by Chief Minister (CM) Biplab Deb has resolved to induct women into state's counter-insurgency force called Tripura State Rifles (TSR), reports The Indian Express.

This comes after the state government had last year announced 10 per cent reservation for women in the police force at all levels. Following this, the state government had floated 1,488 posts for the paramilitary force on bygone 7 July, in response to which it has so far received 35,462 applications which include 5,752 applicants.

Nath also shared that at an overall level, the government will be recruiting for 75 per cent of the posts from the domicile candidates, while rest will be recruited from outside the state.

All the candidates will now have to undergo a physical test carrying 30 marks. Ones who qualify the test will then undergo a written examination for 60 marks, which will then be followed by an interview round carrying 10 marks.
