Two parliamentary panels headed by Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Indian National Congress (INC) are set to examine the WhatsApp snooping case involving the Israeli spyware Pegasus, reports The Hindu.
The decision taken by the two panels to investigate the matter comes after Messaging Platform WhatsApp had said in public that journalists and human rights activists from India were among the hundreds who had been spied upon globally by the use of Pegasus spyware.
Another parliamentary standing committee which will be taking its look into the matter is the one on Information Technology. The said committee is headed by Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram, Shashi Tharoor.
