Amid the ongoing construction work on the grand Shri Ram temple in Ayodhya, a temple of Lord Ram's younger brother Lakshman will be built in Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow.

The "bhumi pujan" for the proposed temple in Gohanakalan village in Jankipuram extension was performed on Thursday (11 May) by the Lakshman Peeth Sewa Nyas.

According to a Navbharat Times report, the height of the temple will be 81 ft high and it will be built on 1 acre area.

Apart from this, a 151-ft high statue of Lakshman will also be installed at Jhulelal Vatika near Hanuman Setu Mandir along the banks of Gomti river in Lucknow, said Lucknow Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia, reports India Today.

The construction work of the Lakshman statue is likely to begin next month.

The executive committee of Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) is expected to pass a budget this month for the installation of the Lord Lakshman statue.
