Led by Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh (UP) has become the first state in the country to implement the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), reports The Times of India.

The state government has issued directives for the identification of Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Buddhist, Parsi, and Christian migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan residing in the State so as to be accorded with Indian citizenship.

It should be noted that as per the state government, the migrants have mainly been found to be residing in Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Noida, Hapur, Rampur, and Shahjahanpur of UP. Also, once migrants are identified, the state administration will then update the Union Ministry for Home Affairs about the same.
