Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
The Uttar Pradesh (UP) state government has worked out provisions to promote the wine production units in the state’s Excise Policy 2021-22.
Sanjay R Bhoosereddy, additional chief secretary excise of the state government, has said that around a dozen wine-making units would soon be established in the major fruit producing regions of the state.
In fact, representatives from the All India Wine Producers Association (AIWPA) held meetings with the concerned departments last week in order to sort out the taxation issues that wineries have to go through across the country.
He added, “A lot of the produce gets wasted due to lack of proper storage facilities for fruits.”
According to the new excise policy of the state, wine that is made from fruits are freed from consideration fee and also the additional consideration fee for a period of five years.
In fact, excise commissioner Senthil Pandiyan C also assured that those districts that have high fruit cultivation but the produce is not utilised optimally are being recognised so that the wineries could be set up specifically over there.
