United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday (10 September) fired his National Security Advisor (NSA) John Bolton over disagreements regarding foreign policy, reports Economic Times.

“I asked John for his resignation, which was given to me this morning. I thank John very much for his service. I will be naming a new National Security Advisor next week,” Trump tweeted.

It should be noted that Bolton was the third National Security Advisor to President Trump since he took to power in November 2016. Bolton, who replaced HR McMaster in April 2018 as NSA, had been at odds with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, one of the main loyalists of Trump. Michael Flynn was the first NSA of the Trump administration, but had to resign less than a month after assuming the role due to a controversy.

Meanwhile, it should be noted that Bolton's ouster comes at a time when it was reported that he had opposed President Trump's will to sign a peace deal with the Taliban in Afghanistan.
