The Kashi Vishwanath Corridor connecting the holy river Ganga and Varanasi's Kashi Vishwanath temple is set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 13 December, reports Hindustan Times.

The project connects the temple with the ghats of the Ganga, with a paved walkway around 320 metre long and 20 metre wide.

According to the Hindustan Times report, Shri Kashi Vishwanath Special Area Development Board chief executive Sunil Verma said that 24 buildings have been constructed along the corridor and finishing touches were being given to the corridor that will be fully ready by second week of December.

Further, shlokas and Vedic hyms are also being carved on the walls of the buildings along the corridor.


The Corridor, which is built over 5.5 lakh square feet area, will also have facilities for a museum, library, a facilitation centre for pilgrims and a Mumuksha Bhawan (salvation house).

A special sky beam light system was also being installed along the corridor.

According to the report, over 300 buildings were purchased and demolished to create the space for the project.
