The Indian Railways is carrying out trial runs of trains with trucks between the New Rewari station in Haryana and the dedicated freight corridor (DFC) New Palanpur station in Gujarat.
The Ministry of Railways even shared an aerially shot video of the DFC New Rewari station on Twitter.
The EDFC starts from Sahnewal and passes through Uttar Pradesh (UP), Punjab, Haryana, Bihar, and Jharkhand before terminating at Dankuni in West Bengal.
On the other hand, the WDFC will connect Dadri in UP to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) in Mumbai by travelling through Haryana, UP, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
The DFC targets decongesting the network of the Indian Railway while at the same time enhancing the average speed of freight trains from the current pace of 25 km/hr to 70 km/hr.
DFC will be an example of an eco-friendly rail transport system and will also be energy efficient.
