West Bengal: TMC Worker Abused, Beaten By Party Colleague For Chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ In Basirhat

A worker of the West Bengal Chief Minister (CM) Mamata Banerjee led All India Trinamool Congress (AITMC) was virulently beaten by his fellow party worker on Saturday (19 October) for chanting 'Jai Shri Ram', reports Asian News International (ANI).

The party worker named Ranjit Mondol who was allegedly beaten for the ‘Jai Shri Ram’ chant by another party worker named Tarak Paroi is said to have sustained major injuries. The incident took place in Basirhat of North 24 Parganas district of the state.


After the incident, Mondol was rushed to the hospital facility in proximity where he was given medical aid.

A case regarding the incident has been registered in the Harwa Police station. It should be noted that no arrests have been made by the West Bengal police in the matter so far.
