As preparations are underway for the Bhoomi pujan ceremony on 5 August for the upcoming Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Sri Ram Mandir Nirman Muslim Kar Sevak Manch president Azam Khan has said that he would sacrifice himself in Sarayu river if not invited to the ceremony.
The Manch is a group of Muslims who have supported and campaigned for the construction of a Ram temple in Ayodhya.
According to news reports, Khan was in Ayodhya when he expressed his wish to be present at the foundation laying ceremony and took the oath of sacrificing himself.
As per a report by News18, Azam Khan claimed that he was a devotee of Lord Ram and had ran a movement for the construction of a Ram temple.
During his visit to Ayodhya, Khan visited Ram Lalla and said Ram could not be restricted to a community or religion, while adding that he would follow the feet of Lord Ram and Lakshman and take a Jal Samadhi.
However, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, responsible for building the temple, has decided to invite select few individuals for the ceremony due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
