With 1,476 Covid Testing Labs Across India, Over 3.09 Crore Samples Tested So Far; 8.99 Lakh Tests Conducted On 17 August

With record 8.99 lakh Covid-19 tests conducted on Monday (11 August), more than 3.09 crore samples have been tested across the country for the disease so far, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data has revealed.

At present, a total of 1,476 laboratories have been conducting the Covid-19 tests across the country. Of these, 971 are government while 505 are private laboratories.

As many as 8,99,864 samples were tested for Covid-19 on 17 August, the ICMR said.

Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases in India rose to over 27.02 lakh on Tuesday, with 55,079 new coronavirus cases and 876 deaths reported in the country in the last 24 hours.

Currently, 6,73,166 cases are active and 1,977,779 people have recovered from the disease in India. As many as 51,797 fatalities have been reported in country so far.
