The World Uyghur Congress (WUC) on Monday (16 September) slammed Pakistan's Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan over his double standards on the Muslim cause with respect to the ethnic persecution of the Uyghur Muslims in China, reports Asian News International (ANI).
WUC's president Dolkun Isa said that it was a matter of shame that the establishment in Islamabad is not only silent but also supporting Beijing's policy against the minority Muslim community of China.
"A couple of months ago, international journalists asked him (Imran Khan) about the Uighur issue several times, but he said that he doesn't know and is not aware of it,” Isa was quoted in the report as saying.
In an interview aired on Al Jazeera on 14 August, Imran Khan was asked by journalist Mohammed Jamjoom if he had ever discussed the issue of Uighur Muslims with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Khan responded by playing down the issue and said, "No, I have not. We have been facing so many of our internal problems right now that I do not know much about this problem,"
