Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal in a statement on Friday (12 March) announced that the food delivery giant is covering the legal expenses of its delivery executive who was accused of assault by a Bengaluru woman.
While Goyal said that they have suspended the delivery agent as per protocol, the company will continue to pay him his earnings during the police investigation.
Goyal also informed that Zomato is in constant touch with the complainant and covering her medical expenses and helping he with the proceedings.
As reported earlier, the Bengaluru woman had yesterday (10 March) posted a video on Twitter alleging that she was punched by an angry Zomato delivery agent after she complained about the late delivery.
The delivery executive on the other hand claimed that the customer was abusive to him from the start and even hit him with a slipper. He added that the injury to her nose which she claimed was a proof of his assault was actually a result of her accidentally hitting her own nose with her ring.
