11 Indians In US Die Of Coronavirus; 16 Others Infected As Cases In America Rise Close To 4.5 Lakh

At least 11 Indians have so far lost lives due to COVID-19 pandemic in the United States (US) which has emerged as the worst-hit country in the world with more than 4 lakh cases and over 14,000 casualties, reports Hindustan Times.
Sixteen other Indian have tested positive with the virus and are currently into self-quarantine.
Among the dead, 10 were from New York and one from New Jersey. All of them were male.
US’ New York has become the biggest epicentre of the virus outbreak in past few days with over 6,000 deaths and nearly 1.4 lakh positive cases.
The Indian people, as per the report, originally hailed from states such as Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh.
The report, attributing officials, said due to very strict restrictions to contain the spread, local officials have been performing last rites of the dead and in several cases even the immediate family members are not being allowed to attend the cremations.
Indian Embassy and consulates across the country have been co-ordinating with the local administration and various Indian-American organisations to extend help to Indian nationals and students in the US.
