In a major development in the state of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), the government has finally restored 2G mobile internet services in the Jammu division, while a phased withdrawal of restrictions has begun in Rajouri district of the state, reports UNI.
The internet services had been restored at around midnight, with limited and slow speed having been sanctioned for the time being as a preventive measure. This has being done to make sure that no misleading or rumour-mongering content is circulated on social media which could end up causing law and order disruptions.
Meanwhile, people on social media platforms celebrated the restoration on internet services in the region. Also to be noted, in Rajouri district of the state, authorities have started easing restrictions with Section 144 being declared to be operational only in the night hours from 9 pm to 5 am.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
