The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) have decided that the criteria for passing for 2019’s Class X exams will be the same as that for 2018. For the Class X students of 2018, the pass criteria was the 33 per cent cut off, combining marks in internal assessment and board examinations. Students securing 33 per cent marks in the examination will be declared as passed in a subject, Financial Express has reported.

Earlier, CBSE had announced that students do not have to pass individually in theory as well as practical examinations.

Before 2018, in case of a subject involving practical work, a candidate must obtain 33 per cent marks in theory and 33 per cent marks in practical examination separatelyto clear the subject, as reported.

The criteria for CBSE 2018 batch was that the candidate remains absent in practical or internal assessment, the marks were treated as zero, and then the result computed accordingly.

Starting 2019, CBSE will conduct exams for Class X and Class XII and has released a list of 240 subjects for which the exams will be conducted.
