34 Fire Tenders Rush To Control As Fire Breaks Out At AIIMS Delhi, No Casualties Reported

A massive fire broke out at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) hospital in Delhi on Saturday (17 August) evening. According to an report from The Hindu, the fire broke out on the second floor of the P.C Block.

After receiving a call at around 4.50 pm, the Delhi Fire services sent 34 fire engines the spot. No casualties have been reported thus far. The fire has been brought under control, and currently, the cooling process is underway. The PC block, which is located near the emergency block, does not have any patients as it consists of doctor’s rooms.

Hospital officials have closed down and shifted patients from the Emergency lab, Superspeciality OPD ward, the AB1 ward. According to a News 18 report, the fire was caused by a short circuit. Director of Delhi Fire Services Vipin Kental said: “Four to five people were inside the building at the time of the fire.”

Former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is currently admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the cardio-neuro centre, in a different building in the hospital.
