Around 40 or so Pakistani terrorists are believed to have infiltrated across the Line of Control (LoC) to the Indian side in Jammu & Kashmir, according to security officials, says a report by India Today.

These infiltrators are thought to be heavily armed and may be looking to attack sensitive installations. Security forces have become extra vigilant in light of this information.

In the last few weeks, there were a number of attempts by Pakistan-based Jihadists to cross over to the Indian side, and several of them were foiled by Indian forces, with many terrorists being neutralised and others being captured.

J&K Police Director General Dilbag Singh said that they are ascertaining the possibility of some of these infiltrators having been successful in reaching the Indian side. In recent days, reports have also surfaced about Pakistan moving hundreds of terrorists to its launchpads close to the LoC.

The restrictions of communication services is likely to have hindered the ability of the infiltrators to plan and coordinate attacks, but it is also true that this is a double-edged sword, with security forces also having a harder down tracking them down.

Just today (12 September), J&K Police apprehended three Jaish terrorists in Kathua trying to smuggle in arms into the Kashmir Valley. Six assault rifles and ammunition was recovered from these individuals.
