'85 Per Cent Work On Kailash-Mansarovar Route Via Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh Completed': Gadkari

In a positive development, the construction work underway on the Kailash Mansarovar route via Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand has been 85 per cent completed, reports Times of India.
The development was announced by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Monday (3 August), who underscored that work for highway construction in the region is underway.
Gadkari said that once the work on the strategically important Kailash Mansarovar route is completed, he will be taking Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi to Mansarovar via Pithoragarh.
The newly built 80-km strategically crucial stretch connects Lipulekh pass at a height of 17,000 feet along the border with China in Uttarakhand with Dharchula.
Gadkari also said that the work is going on in full swing on the Chardham project which is being pursued at a cost of Rs 12,000 crore. Once completed, this flagship project of the Road and Transport Ministry will enable all-weather connectivity to Yamnotri, Gangotri, Shri Badrinath and Shri Kedarnath through a network of 826 kilometres of highways.
It should be noted that in a bid to fast-track the Chardham project, Gadkari last month had urged the Chief Minister (CM) of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat to expedite the land acquisition and environment clearances for the mega project.
