Kabul terror attack (Pic Via Twitter)
One of the deceased in the dastardly terror attack on a Kabul government hospital’s maternity hospital was a four month old infant who was named Omid (hope) by his parents.
A Reuters report reveals that he was his parent’s first child and the couple had conceived him after trying for seven long years. He was one of the two newborns who died in the terror attack.
A total of 24 innocent civilians died in the attack when three terrorists opened fire in the maternity ward on Tuesday morning (14 May). The three terrorists were later gunned down by security forces.
The family had come all the way from Bamiyan to ensure proper medical care for the mother and her child.
Following the attack Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani directed the war-torn nation's security forces to end their "active defence position" and return to "offensive postures" and to resume their operations against the enemy forces.
An offshoot of the Islamic State is suspected to be behind the terror attack.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
