Railways Minister Piyush Goyal through Twitter announced the launch of ‘Coach Mitra’ service on the official website of the Indian railways. The service will allow passengers to intimate railway authorities of any issues they face such as poor lighting, water availability, cleanliness, etc.
The Coach Mitra service will replace the Railways’ previous online complaint portal ‘Clean My Coach’. The new service will allow travellers to convey their complaints to the On Board Housekeeping Service (OBHS) on 1,000 different trains. The service can also be utilised through SMS.
The Clean My Coach service was only just over two years old. It was launched during the term of former railway minister Suresh Prabhu as part of the Indian Railways’ cleanliness programme called ‘Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat.
Passengers can avail of the new service on coachmitra.indianrail.gov.in by submitting their PNR and contact details.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
