US President Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump has admitted that conflict with North Korea is presently the biggest concern on his plate. In a recent interview with Reuters, the President stated that there is an absolute chance that the United States could end up having a major military conflict with North Korea.

"There is a chance that we could end up having a major, major conflict with North Korea. Absolutely," Trump said in the interview ahead of his 100th day in office.

North Korea has conducted several missile tests ever since the new US administration came to power and has refused to halt its nuclear weapons development programs. In the most recent show of force, Pyongyang put its military might on display during a parade marking the 105th birth anniversary of the country's founder Kim Il Sung, grandfather of present ruler Kim Jong Un.

According to reports, North Korea displayed what appeared to be an intercontinental ballistic missile during the parade. The parade also featured the North's submarine-launched ballistic missiles for the first time.

A day after it conducted a failed missile launch on its east coast, Vice President Mike Pence had said that all options are still on table with North Korea, including military. Ever since, the two sides have been engaged in a spat of verbal warnings.

Meanwhile, China has announced to conduct live-fire drills and test new weapons to counter the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), an anti-missile defense system being deployed in South Korea by the United States.
