A Police Officer Who Led An Operation To Nab 21 Tablighi Jamaatis Hiding In A Mumbai Mosque Tests Positive For Covid-19

A senior police inspector who led an operation to nab 21 Tablighi Jamaat members hiding in a mosque in Mumbra, Maharashtra has tested positive for coronavirus, India Today reported.
Thirteen Bangladeshi and eight Malaysian nationals who had attended the Tablighi Jammat event at Nizamuddin area in Delhi, which has emerged as epicentre of India’s Coronavirus outbreak, were hiding in a mosque and school in Mumbra.
The 21 Islamic preachers had travelled to Tamil Nadu and then to Mumbra in Maharashtra.
Despite repeated appeals by the Maharashtra government to submit themselves for testing and quarantining in hospitals, they refused to appear before the authorities.
The Mumbra police had also registered two offences against the mosque and the school trustees for giving shelter to the foreign nationals and not informing authorities.
After completing his duty of Tablighi Jamaat members in Mumbra, the inspector made sure all the 21 foreign nationals and trustees were quarantined in a facility and tested for coronavirus.
The police inspector later started showing symptoms of Covid-19 and was tested for it. The test results arrived on Friday. He is currently undergoing treatment at the Apollo Hospital in Nashik.
