In a prideful development for the nation's newest Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh, Lieutenant Governor (LG) R K Mathur yesterday (11 August) unveiled and dedicated to the people of UT the flag, formation sign and epaulettes of the Ladakh Police, reports Indian Express.

Laden in the traditional police colours of red and blue, the Ladakh Police's brand new flag has a floral cover of juniper leaves which are considered auspicious in both Leh and Kargil districts. This has been done to make the flag display the region's cultural distinctiveness. The flag also has the national emblem and inscription of Satyamev Jayate on it.

The Ladakh Police spokesperson shared that the red background on the force's formation sign signified sacrifice, while the white leopard on it signified the endurance and strength in spite of hard terrain and harsh condition, keeping in sync with the local ecosystem.

The epaulettes with the badge of the force and other accessories have mention of the force's slogan "Service and Courage."

Speaking on the occasion, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Satish Khandare said, "Creation of new independent police wings, infrastructural development process in tandem with the local conditions, transfer of Ladakh domicile police personnel to Ladakh, and welfare and training activities have been some great achievements of the newly-formed Ladakh Police."

IGP Khandare also assured the gathering that the force will not leave any stone unturned to make it more friendly, technically sound and professionally well equipped to serve the people in varied forms and situations.
