As reported, while fighting for the rights of women, Trupti Desai has embroiled herself in controversies once again. This time, after threatening to block Prime Minister’s convoy in Shridi, police detained her on Friday, 19 October.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Shirdi on Friday to participate in functions to conclude the Saibaba Samadhi centenary programme organised by the trust of the Sai temple. Beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) will also be receiving keys to their houses availed through the scheme.

Prior to making the announcement of blocking PM’s convoy, Desai had asked for a meeting with the Prime Minister at Shirdi to discuss the issue of Sabarimala. A senior official from the police was quoted by Deccan Herald as saying, “Today, before she could leave Pune for Shirdi (in neighbouring Ahmednagar district), officials from Sahakar Nagar police station took her into preventive custody. She was taken into police custody early in the morning as she had threatened to disrupt PM's visit in Shirdi.”

She has been unhappy about the lack of action against protesters who demand a ban on the entry of women in Sabarimala.
