Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to sign the ‘Power For All’ pact with the centre in order to make the state energy efficient by 2018 and to ensure that all the villages in the state have power supply by 2019. The pact will be inked on 14 April by Adityanath in the presence of Union Minister of State Piyush Goyal in Lucknow.

According to the Economic Times, Uttar Pradesh is the only state that has not signed this agreement. The managing director of the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation, A P Mishra, resigned soon after Power Minister Shrikant Sharma asked him to explain the reason behind the delay.

The government had on Tuesday ordered 18-hour power supply in villages and 24 hours in district headquarters of the state. This decision was taken in the second Cabinet meeting chaired by Adityanath earlier in the day.

“It is the dream of BJP chief Amit Shah and the Chief Minister that every house, every poor and every village get power by 2018,” Shrikant Sharma said, adding that the government had successfully provided uninterrupted 24-hour power supply at all "shaktipeeths" during the Navratri festival.

Besides ordering 18-hour power supply in the villages and 24 hours in district headquarters of the state, Adityanath has also directed the officials to ensure there is uninterrupted supply to villages from 6 pm to 6 am to ensure that students preparing for the exams are not disturbed.
