After 49 Days, ‘Kumbh 2019’ Ends; Mauritius PM, Put Off By The Filth In 2013, Takes A Dip This Time

With Maha Shivaratri, the 49-day long Kumbh ended on 5 March (Tuesday). The biggest ‘congregation of humanity’ on this planet drew over 24 crore people during the entire mela period.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Ram Naik were joined by the UP Deputy CMs, and various other ministers in Prayagraj to close the mela for six years. The next congregation will take place as Mahakumbh at Sangam in 2025.
The team from Guinness Book of World Records came down to Prayagraj thrice to accord the world records for biggest cleanliness mission, maximum crowd management, most significant group painting exercise to Kumbh-2019 and shuttling of biggest fleet of shuttle buses (500), reported New Indian Express.
"In 2013, the Mauritius Prime Minister came to India to take a holy dip but saw pollution, filth, foul smell and the mismanagement and went back without taking a dip in Ganga and only paid obeisance from a distance," an ANI report quoted Adityanath as saying.
Addressing a press conference, Yogi said that the Mauritius PM Pravind Jugnauth, this time, "could not stop himself and took a dip in the river". He said that the condition of the river had improved significantly due to the efforts of the incumbent government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
