After Afghan Peace Deal, Al-Qaeda’s India Affiliate Shifts Focus To Kashmir; To Rename Magazine ‘Nawai Ghazwa-e-Hind’

Having struggled to gain foothold in India so far, the Al-Qaeda affiliate for the Indian subcontinent has signalled plans to narrow down its focus on India and Kashmir region in a special edition of its magazine ‘Nawai Afghan Jihad’ released in the wake of US-Taliban peace deal in Afghanistan, reports Hindustan Times.
The publication outlined its plans to rechristen the magazine as ‘Nawai Ghazwa-e-Hind’, as it called the peace deal signed between the US and Afghan Taliban as a “magnificent victory.”
Experts have opined that the move to rename the magazine is done as a part of the terrorist organisation’s decision to focus on India, especially Kashmir.
The 135-page long magazine featured an article supposedly written by a Kashmir based individual named Mohammed Shakir Trali. The article was titled “Kandahar to Doda: The season of hopes” and it called for the strengthening of the presence of al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) in the Kashmir Valley.
In his article, Trali also made mentions to the Indian Parliament’s deoperationalisation of Article 370 of the Constitution which enshrines a special status to the former State of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) and turned it into a centrally-administered Union Territory (UT).
