Ram Mandir billboard (ANI)
The Indian Tri-Colour will be hoisted at New York's iconic Times Square on the upcoming Independence Day. This is the first time such a flag hoisting will take place at the Times Square, Press Trust of India has reported.
The ceremony has been planned by the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) of the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
"It will be the first time ever that India's tricolour will be unfurled at the iconic venue in all its glory...the Times Square flag hoisting ceremony is a testament to the Indian-American community's growing patriotism and is a fitting tribute to the FIA which is celebrating its golden jubilee year", the organisation said in a statement.
Consul General of India in New York Randhir Jaiswal will be the guest of honour at the event.
This announcement comes just days after a billboard with an image of Lord Ram along with the Ram Mandir was beamed on New York's iconic Times Square as part of the Bhoomi Pujan celebrations.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
