The morale of Facebook employees has taken a hit due to multiple data leaks and exits of top-notch executives, IANS has reported. The result of an internal survey in the tech-giant revealed that only 52 per cent of the employees felt optimistic about the future of the company. This was a reduction of 32 per cent in comparison to the previous year.

Only 53 per cent of the employees felt that they were making the world a better place. This was a 19 per cent decline in comparison to the previous year. “It has been a difficult period, but every day we see people pulling together to learn the lessons of the past year and build a stronger company,” a Facebook spokesperson commented on the downward spiral in employee morale.

The company is facing backlash for its handling of fake news and its stocks have fallen in recent times. Reports of data breach have further dented the image of the company. Whatsapp founders Brian Acton and Jan Koum have also left Facebook. The exit of Instagram founders Mike Krieger and Kevin Systrom has also affected employee morale.
