After Floods, Kerala Now Under Cold Wave; Munnar Hits Sub-Zero Degree Levels

Kerala is now under the grip of a cold wave with the temperature of Munnar touching sub-zero levels, reports New Indian Express.
Earlier, the winter season used to be in November and December, but now it has shifted to January," NIE quoted Senthil Kumar, a native of Munnar as saying.
The temperature at tea plantations in and around Munnar dropped to -3 degrees Celsius. Areas such as Chenduvara, Chittuvara and Lakkad recorded -3 degrees Celsius, while Munnar town touched -1 degrees Celsius.
On 6 and 7 January, the maximum and minimum temperatures across Kerala showed a noticeable deviation varying between 18 and 25 degrees Celsius.
Other districts such as Kottayam, Pathanamthitta and Idukki experienced temperatures ranging from 17 to 20 degrees Celsius. This is a rare phenomenon in Kerala, at least in the recent past.
According to weather experts, the cold weather conditions will continue for some more days across South India. The recent dip in mercury has seen Kerala hit the lowest minimum temperature in at least three decades.
