After having lost the trust vote at Vidhan Soudha and ceding the chief ministership of Karnataka to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) heavyweight BS Yediyurappa, former chief minister (CM) H D Kumaraswamy said that he might quit politics, reports The Indian Express.
“I’m thinking of going away from politics. I came to politics accidentally. I became CM accidentally. God gave me the opportunity to become CM twice. I wasn’t there to satisfy anyone. In 14 months I did good work towards state’s development. I’m satisfied,” said Kumaraswamy.
Son of former prime minister (PM) HD Deve Gowda and leader of the Janata Dal (Secular) also added that India’s politics had been moving towards an infatuation with caste
“Let me live in peace. I don’t have to continue in politics. I did good when I was in power. I want space in people’s heart,” he said.
The development comes after the Bharatiya Janata Party led by now CM Yediyurappa successfully toppled the Kumaraswamy led JD(S)-Congress post-poll alliance government by six votes in a House where 20 alliance MLAs remained absent.
