Social media giant Facebook has confirmed that it will end its controversial ‘Explore Feed’ concept that it had launched in October across six countries, reports Quartz. Under the Explore Feed, users would see two different news feeds, one with updates from family and friends and the other with updates from publishers. It was rolled out after users told Facebook that wanted to see more posts from people they knew.
The roll back was announced by Facebook’s head of the News Feed, Adam Mosseri yesterday (1 March).
The change sparked panic among publishers who feared they’d lose visibility for their content and would have to pay for it, causing Facebook stocks to drop amid concerns that people would spend less time on the site.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
