Ashok Gehlot (Rajasthan Congress official Facebook page)
Chief Minister (CM) Ashok Gehlot's Government in Rajasthan today (31 October) introduced three bills in the state assembly aimed at negating the impact of the centre's recently implemented farm laws, reports Hindustan Times.
The bills were introduced in the assembly by State's Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shanti Dhariwal. These have been christened Essential Commodities (Special Provisions and Rajasthan Amendment) Bill 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services (Rajasthan Amendment) Bill 2020 and the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation and Rajasthan Amendment) Bill 2020.
It should be noted that once the three bills are passed by the Rajasthan's assembly, the three bills will need the assent of President Ram Nath Kovind to come into force.
Recently, Punjab's Assembly had also passed three such laws in a bid to scuttle the laws recently passed by the centre.
After Parliament passed three Bills on these issues amid opposition protests, President Kovind gave his assent, following which the Government issued a gazette notification on 27 September bringing the news laws to force.
