Following in the footsteps of Samsung’s blast prone Galaxy Note 7, a Reliance Jio's Lyf phone reportedly burst into flames on Sunday (6 November). While the user, who posted about the incident on Twitter, sticks to his claim, no official confirmation was obtained from the company at the time of writing this report.

According to India Today, Tariq Sadiq posted the photos of a burned Lyf phone on the micro-blogging website. The phone's model is not yet known, but the company quickly responded to Sadiq's complaint and said that it is investigating the issue. Sadiq is the political secretary to the working president of the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference, Omar Abdullah.

“We are concerned about the incident reported in social media and are taking the matter seriously. We are assessing the cause and will conduct a thorough investigation in the matter. Customer safety is paramount to us and, based on our findings, we will take appropriate action (sic),” a Lyf spokesperson was quoted by India Today as saying.

According to PhoneRadar, the user was browsing Facebook on the phone when it exploded in his hand. It hasn’t been long since we have heard of the whole Galaxy Note 7 burning fiasco, that led to the recall and eventual shutdown of the Note 7 product.
