The Pakistani Railway Ministry has announced the suspension of the Samjhauta Express, which is a train service running between Delhi and Lahore, reports The Times of India.
The train was also briefly stopped on the Pakistani side at Wagah, after which it was escorted to Attari on the Indian side by crew members and a guard from India.
"In a decision by the railways ministry, Samjhauta Express services have been permanently stopped. It used to ply twice a week. The people who had already purchased their tickets can get their money reimbursed from Lahore DS office," Pakistan railways minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said in a statemet, according to ANI.
This follows a few other measures taken by Pakistan after India’s decision to end Jammu & Kashmir’s special status. Islamabad has also asked the Indian ambassador to the country to leave, and has proclaimed that it will not be sending its own ambassador-designate to India.
The country has also suspended bilateral trade with India.
