The Department of Telecom (DoT) on Wednesday (4 March) directed the telecom service providers (TSPs), including Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea (VIL) and Tata Teleservices (TTSL), to make remaining adjusted gross revenue (AGR) payments without any further delay, reports Hindu Businessline.

The department further stated that in case of non-payment, actions will be taken in accordance with the licence agreements of the TSPs.

It should be noted that the final Supreme Court hearing on the AGR issue is scheduled for 17 March and the department is working hard to ensure that the apex court does not raise any questions against it.

The department further clarified that the dues paid by the telecoms were based on self-assessment and not per the calculation done by the department.

"The said details/ documents are urgently required for proper reconciliation of the legitimate dues because amount paid by you is based on self assessment. Further, Hon'ble SC order dated February 14 has reiterated its order dated October 24 which requires that entire licence fee (LF) and spectrum usage charge (SUC) dues along with interest, penalty and interest on penalty is paid upfront," the DoT letter read as reported by Businessline.

The order further stated that partial payments of the dues by the TSPs cannot be accepted as compliance to SC’s 24 October and 14 February order.
