Christian Michel James, alleged middleman in the AgustaWestland chopper scam, has lodged a complaint to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on the issue of not being given good quality food in Tihar jail.

He has claimed in the court to have "lost 16 kgs" and that his diet only consisted of boiled vegetables, reports Times Now.

The Delhi High Court has allowed more time to Michel, who had been extradited from UAE to India, in December 2018, and to the CBI as well to file a reply to the plea presented by the Tihar jail authorities.

An UK -based legal organisation representing Michel, has addressed the United Nations and has reportedly claimed that Michel had gone through 'torture' in Tihar jail. And that the atmosphere that he was being held in was 'squalid'.

'Guernica 37 International Justice Chambers', London based expert lawyers have claimed in their statement that, "It is alleged that Mr Michel was extradited to India following a formal request being submitted to the United Arab Emirates. The reality is that Mr Michel was unlawfully handed over to the Government of India, the procedure resembling more rendition than a lawful extradition process".

Michel had pleaded for bail, a month ago, and had asked for a seven-day interim bail to observe

Easter with his family, but was denied by a Delhi court.

In 2016, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had filed a chargesheet in which it had alleged that Michel had been a party to payments from Augusta Westland of about $33 million as a payment to sway the VVIP chopper deal in favour of the company.
