Ahead Of Jaishankar’s Visit To China, MEA Tells Beijing To Avoid Speaking On India’s Internal Matters

With External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar all set to embark on a visit to the neighbouring nation of China from 11-13 August, the Indian Foreign Minjavascript:void(0)istry has told China to avoid speaking on matters internal to India, reports The Hindu.
The Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson said, “The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2019, is an internal matter concerning the territory of India. India does not comment on the internal affairs of other countries and similarly expects other countries to do likewise”.
The comment came in response to Beijing's stand that the ending of special status to Ladakh region undermined Chinese sovereignty. A Chinese Foreign Ministry statement had criticised the ‘unilateral’ move by India to turn Ladakh into a Union Territory to be administered directly by the Centre.
Beijing had yesterday (6 August) said, "We urge India to exercise prudence in words and deeds concerning the boundary question, strictly abide by relevant agreements concluded between the two sides and avoid taking any move that may further complicate the boundary question."
