Ayyub Mansuri, a resident of Juhapura in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad, who had last week cut his wife’s tongue with a knife, has told the police that he was compelled to do so as his wife’s tongue got stuck with his while they were kissing on 9 October, reports Times of India.

According to the report, the police officials said that the answers given by Mansuri, who is currently lodged in Sabarmati jail in judicial custody, during the interrogation were dodgy.

“Mansuri said when matters turned passionate he found his wife Tasleem’s tongue fused with his,” a police official was quoted in the report as saying.

“So, he tried to separate the two tongues, during which his wife’s tongue was severed.” the official added.

Further, the 46-year-old Mansuri said that after realising that his wife’s tongue was severed and seeing her profusely bleeding, he got panicked and ran away after locking her inside the house.

Earlier on 10 October, Mansuri’s wife Tasleem, aged 36, had filed a complaint with Vejalpur police stating that her husband cut off her tongue after first kissing her.

After the incident, Tasleem was admitted to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Hospital. She is reportedly still not able to eat or speak properly.

As per the report, Tasleem got married with Mansuri in 2018 and is his third wife. After their marriage, Mansuri reportedly thrashed her frequently.

“Mansuri was charged with murder for allegedly burning his first wife, Parveen, to death,” the police official said.

“While criminal proceedings were still pending, he married a woman from Mumbai and assaulted her. She left him. He then married Tasleem,” the cop added.
