Akhilesh Yadav Finally Vacates Official Residence, Says He’s Following Supreme Court Orders

Barely a week after he asked for a two year extension in order to look for an alternative house, former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav ahs finally vacated the house allotted to him when he was at the top post.

He said he was vacating the house to comply with the orders of the Supreme Court of India.

Following the apex court’s orders, the Yogi Adityanath-led government sent notices to six former chief ministers including Akhilesh, his father Mulayam Singh Yadav, Mayawati, Rajnath Singh and Kalyan Singh. While Rajnath Singh – as the Union Home Minister – has been allotted a house in New Delhi and allotted a house there decided to vacate, the others are yet to comply. The senior Yadav, who occupies the house next to his son’s has been its occupant for 20 years now.

Mayawati meanwhile has converted her house into a memorial for Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) founder Kanshi Ram and later offered to vacate another government bungalow that she was occupying.
