Samajwadi Party president and incumbent Member of Parliament (PM) Akhilesh Yadav said on Saturday (14 September) that all the cases against controversial leader Azam Khan would be withdrawn if his party comes to power, reports Financial Express.
Azam Khan who is a senior leader of the Samajwadi Party is also a Member of Parliament from Rampur constituency. He has multiple cases registered against himself, including those of land-grabbing and those of goat and buffalo theft.
Yadav said that if necessary, he would also talk to the state's Governor Anandiben Patel with the regard of repealing the cases filed against Khan. He asserted that Khan was a victim of vendetta politics pursued by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
