Allahabad HC Rejects Petitions Seeking A Stop On PM Modi’s Pet Kashi Vishwanath Corridor Project

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious Kashi Vishwanath Corridor project has passed the legal hurdle of the Allahabad High Court. A number of petitions filed against the demolition have been rejected by the court.
Some house-owners, shop tenants and Karmichel Library Association Gyanvapi had challenged the project which has been rejected by the division bench of Judge B Amit Sthalekar and Judge Piyush Agrawal. The residents alleged that the corridor would affect their livelihood.
There are 26 shops in Karmichel Library building which was acquired by the Governor on 15 February. The state government and the temple trust have acquired many properties to get land for the corridor.
While hearing this case, the High Court has decided its mandate on 1 May and while announcing its decision on Wednesday (22 May), it asked pleaders to file a civil complaint instead.
The state government was represented by Sudhanshu Shrivastav and Manish Goyal while advocate Vinit Sankalp represented the temple trust.
